Acupuncture Muscle Batteries
Chinese Traditional Medicine's "mystical force" of Qi (or Chi) is a flow of electrons!
Acupuncture muscle batteries is a concept put forward by Dr. Jerry Tennant.1 I’ll try my best not to misinterpret what he has written on this topic, but please understand that I’m no medical savant, and am doing the best that I can.
The way I understand this concept, the acupuncture system of Traditional Chinese Medicine is the two-way electrical energy transmission system of our bodies. The muscles are part of this acupuncture system, and they create a one-way energy storage mechanism for each meridian, for the purpose of enabling the body to heal from disease and trauma. Any deficiency of voltage in a particular acupuncture meridian will impede the healing of muscles or the organ on that meridian. A large enough loss of energy can set us up for cancer.
Mainstream Medicine’s View
The mainstream scientific view of acupuncture is probably reasonably well summarized along the lines of this quote from the University of California Berkeley, which defines Qi (or Chi) as an unscientific “mystical force:”
According to traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture is based on the idea of Qi (pronounced and often spelled Chi), which is envisioned as a type of life-giving energy that circulates through the body in special channels. Acupuncture is thought to release blockages in these undetectable channels, restoring the flow of Qi through the body. According to this view, Qi is a mystical force that cannot be sensed or observed — and because science focuses on testing ideas about the natural world with evidence obtained through observation, these aspects of acupuncture can’t be studied by science.
The amount of ignorance in the above statement is mind blowing! But that’s generally par for the course with corporatized orthodox medicine.
“Undetectable channels” were what Robert O. Becker termed the analog perineural nervous system,2 a bidirectional energy transmission system formed by fibrous tissue (fascia) that surrounds nerves. Fascia also surrounds and encapsulates all of our muscles, bones, organs, and blood vessels, forming a three dimensional web throughout all corners of the body. The cleavage points of fascial planes were found to correspond very highly to ancient acupuncture meridians.
The “mystical force” is electricity - the bi-directional flow of electrons through the acupuncture meridians.
Contrary to the statement quoted above, both of the bullet points above can be tested. And they can be observed, in order to establish direct empirical evidence.
Robert O. Becker laid the groundwork for understanding the body’s electrical network through his decades of research into trying to understand how some animals possess the ability to regrow limbs, yet humans do not.
Dr. Jerry Tennant has advanced our understanding of the electrical nature of the body in his Healing is Voltage series of books. In his book of this series entitled Acupuncture Muscle Batteries (2014), he has refined and corrected his earlier theories (which are still a work in progress) about the importance of the body’s electrical network, identifying the muscles along acupuncture meridians acting as battery packs that deliver a one way flow of electrons to the organ in each circuit.
And he takes things a step further, suggesting that the cause of virtually all chronic diseases can be determined by beginning with just one question:
Why can’t this person make new cells that work?3
In a nutshell, cells don’t work because of a lack of voltage: all chronic disease has an energy component. Correcting the problem means that you have to find where and why voltage is leaking. Once you understand that, the process of restoring proper cellular function, and thus healing diseased tissues, is relatively straightforward.
Electron Harvesting
Our body’s healthy cells have a voltage of about -25 millivolts (mV). To repair damage and create new cells takes at least -50 mV - twice the voltage. Cancer grows when voltage drops to +30 mV (cells change from alkaline to acidic).
Individual cells get their voltage from electrons, which are the negatively charged particles within atoms. Acupuncture muscle batteries are a means of storing electrons, which forms a one-way electrical system necessary to power the body’s healing processes.
While there are many ways that our body harvests electrons from our environment, only one source is constantly in use. That source is the oxygen collected in our lungs. Two electrons are stripped from every oxygen molecule in the alveoli deep within our lungs, where they are transferred to hemoglobin in red blood cells (RBCs).4 We do this every waking moment of our lives, whereas other sources of electrons, such as from food, light, heat energy, etc are intermittent: the sun doesn’t shine at night, it’s not always warm, and we don’t eat during our sleep.
The RBCs harvested in our lungs get circulated in blood vessels throughout the body and are delivered to capillaries that feed each of our cells, where the hemoglobin offloads electrons to individual cells where needed. Once in the cells, they get stored in cellular membranes, which act as tiny individual batteries. Together with electrons obtained from various nutrients and other sources, these stored electrons power the electron transport chain, which generates ATP, the energy currency of our cells.
As noted, the body acquires electrons in multiple ways, one of which happens when muscles are contracted, which causes electrons to be generated through piezoelectricity. That energy gets stored in muscles, and the muscles associated with specific acupuncture meridians are used as a source of power to regenerate the organ on the same meridian.
So, if cells aren’t getting enough electrons to create new cells, it means there is a leakage of electrons somewhere in the system. The process that Tennant outlines for finding the leakage is as follows:
Correct thyroid function.
Support adrenals and hormones, if needed.
Correct “Bowling Ball Syndrome,” if necessary.
Identify the corresponding acupuncture battery pack and check for symptoms.
Trace the corresponding meridian for scars or infections.
Detoxify.
Remove emotional blockages.
To understand the above, it is best to purchase Dr. Tennant’s book. But it costs about $50, largely because it is printed in large format and in full color. To me, it was money well spent, but people who have a hard time believing Dr. Tennant’s theories might be reluctant to invest that much. So I’ll try to summarize the above steps.
Thyroid
The thyroid gland is the master voltage regulator for your cells, so that needs to be working optimally. Both hyperthyroidism (high thyroid function) and hypothyroidism (low thyroid function) can be problematic, though typically hypothyroidism is the most common issue associated with low voltage.
In
’s new book about cellular health,5 he outlines how to address hypothyroidism through a dietary increase in easily processed carbohydrates (initially, these are dextrose, white rice and sugar), in order to increase the amount of energy available to individual cells. His protocol involves taking your body temperature upon waking, using an old-fashioned glass thermometer, held in your mouth for at least five minutes. If your temperature is consistently below 97.8 F you are likely hypothyroid. Dr. Tennant suggests that if your waking temperature is consistently below 95 F you are optimising your body’s terrain for cancer.6
If your waking temperature is below 97.8 F, it’s worth following
’s dietary advice to see if you can correct the problem. It can take some time, so be patient. If that fails, or if your waking temperature is below 95 F, you should probably get your thyroid levels tested by a doctor.A natural dessicated thyroid supplement is the best way to restore thyroid function if diet doesn’t do the trick. Synthetic thyroid supplements are NOT recommended, though they are the option that is typically pushed by our healthcare system. If you go down either of these routes, you’ll need regular screening to keep things optimized.
Adrenals and Hormones
Dr. Tennant’s book doesn’t do a deep dive into how to address adrenal and hormonal problems, since they are outside of its main scope. But nutrition is one means of addressing these issues, and the book does describe supplements and their contents, which can be helpful in putting together your own supplement regimen to support adrenal health.
I’ll add that certain types of fasting can help your body reset its hormonal balance. My only experience in this was in following a fasting-mimicking diet for five days.7 After that, for about five months I could eat absolutely anything and not gain weight. But my bad habits once again ended up throwing my hormones out of whack, and thereafter life quickly returned to normal.
A fasting-mimicking diet is a technique of calorie restriction that fools the body into thinking it’s essentially doing a water-only fast. Because you can have a small number of specific types of calories, it’s a lot easier for most people to comply with than having nothing but water for five days. Like a water-only fast, it can be hard on your body, which is why the typical recommendation is to only do such fasts in a clinical setting. If you are reasonably healthy and are used to listening to your body, it’s possible to go it alone, as I did.
It’s possible that the same effect is possible with other fasting protocols, but I have not experienced that with various time-restricted eating regimes. Though I doubt that, if such fasting did have the same effect, it can be brought on as quickly as with a continuous fast.
If you search
’s Substack, you will find a seemingly endless list of book summaries and interviews that deal with some aspect of adrenal insufficiency. One that I favor is this book summary, which implicates excess calcium due to a deficiency of magnesium. Insufficient magnesium forces excess calcium into cells, and excess cellular calcium will negatively affect every organ in the body.8 Magnesium is also needed in over 600 enzymatic reactions in the human body, including those involved in energy production.9Bowling Ball Syndrome
Bowling Ball Syndrome is a twist in your musculature caused by a displacement of the center of gravity of the skull, due to a shift of the sphenoid bone to one side. Basically, things being out of line in your skull translates to your body’s musculature being out of line in response. As a consequence, half of your muscles are in a degree of spasm and half are relaxed. The spasming causes those muscles to discharge, potentially impacting multiple acupuncture meridians. The problem is easily fixed with bio-cranial therapy, which can be performed by a specifically trained massage therapist, chiropractor or osteopath, for example.
Acupuncture Battery Packs
Dr. Tennant’s book contains an anatomy atlas of full color illustrations of the muscles that store energy for each acupuncture meridian, with each meridian acting much like the individual electrical circuits in your house. The book also indicates where energy can be inserted into the meridians in order to most directly recharge the muscles and the organ on that circuit.
Any muscles where you experience chronic pain or inflammation are likely a source of leaking electrons. Often the cause of such issues can be corrected with techniques like massage therapy or chiropractic adjustment. Though in cases of severe physical trauma, repairing damaged scar tissue can be quite challenging and require an array of approaches, with each contributing different benefits. Due to the broad number of possible treatments, detailed discussion of this topic was outside the scope of the book.
Scars and Infections
A scar in a meridian will disrupt current flow. How much current is disrupted is a function of how rough the scar is, and how much the natural path of the meridian has been disrupted and partly repaired.
A simple technique for smoothing out scars, which may improve electric flow through them, is to frequently apply decolorized iodine.10 Within a week there is usually noticeable improvement. This also works with Vitamin E and other substances. Iodine is probably the cheapest option.
If there is an infection in your body that transects a meridian line, it will reduce voltage to some degree. The most problematic infections are in your teeth and jaws. Tooth extractions, root canals and other dental procedures can leave behind hidden pockets without a nerve supply (called cavitations), where infections can grow undetected. These can be severe enough to greatly limit voltage. Each tooth is on a specific meridian circuit, and each circuit serves a specific organ. The problem gets worse as you age and your immune response starts to degrade. Thus, dental cavitations can cause serious organ dysfunction if not detected and corrected.
Detoxification
Any positively charged atom is an electron stealer. Positively charged metals like lead, mercury and aluminum can steal a LOT of electrons, and their positive charge can gum up your lymphatic system and organs, making it hard for your body to eliminate these toxins. Aluminum is hands down the worst offender, which is why aluminum in antiperspirants and as an anti-caking agent in baked goods, for just two examples, is highly problematic. Aluminum is implicated in cancer of the left breast, most atherosclerotic plaques and Alzheimer’s.11
Positively charged bacteria are also electron stealers, so subclinical infections can also cause electron leakage.
Specific detox protocols were outside the scope of Dr. Tennant’s book, but there are currently many books with competing thoughts about how best to purge toxins from your body.12
Some common sources of toxicants are vaccine adjuvants (mercury and aluminum), water supplies (added fluoride and chlorine, plus naturally occurring minerals), and pesticides. Many people who switch to drinking water filtered by reverse osmosis soon report improved hair and skin, likely due to the reduction in positively charged toxicants.
Emotions
Acupuncture theory relates emotions to specific meridians:
Anger: Liver/Gallbladder.
Fear: Kidney/Bladder.
Worry: Spleen-Pancreas/Stomach.
Sorrow: Heart/Small Intestine.
Grief: Lung/Large Intestine.
Anxiety: Sympathetic/Parasympathetic (the book explains which acupuncture meridians actually describe different aspects of the autonomic nervous system).
Emotions are stored in magnetic fields. Dr. Tennant believes that it is possible to get rid of negative emotions without destroying the memories associated with them. Doing so is as easy as thinking about the cause of the negative emotion while current is being infused with the correct frequency of electrons in the appropriate meridian circuit.
Conclusion
Dr. Tennant, together with Dr. Robert O. Becker, have scientifically substantiated centuries of ancient wisdom found in the acupuncture principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, while orthodox medicine blindly continues to dismiss this wisdom as being due to a mystical, undetectable force!
Dr. Tennant’s book, Healing is Voltage: Acupuncture Muscle Batteries (2014) is in the vanguard of current thinking about the foundational energy deficiency cause of most chronic disease, and goes well beyond that in laying out a simple algorithm for determining and correcting energy losses that can prevent the body from healing itself. He is offering a simple electrical means for returning the body to homeostasis, as an alternative to the drugs and surgery paradigm of corporatized orthodox medicine.
A primary benefit of the book is the atlas of muscles which store power for each acupuncture meridian. With this information, it is possible to apply Tennant’s healing principles using direct microcurrent frequency devices, other than the Tennant Biomodulator, toward giving specific organs the power they need to heal, at least in the case of slow leaks (when the continual power loss within a meridian isn’t too significant). Such devices include various “zappers” (electric frequency generators by Robert Beck, Hulda Clark, Royal Raymond Rife and others), and electric muscle stimulation units.
The atlas also can be used as a guide for designing an exercise regimen as an investment that helps bolster organ health, and which can add an extra layer of resilience against both acute and chronic disease.
The book is somewhat expensive, due to it being printed in large format and full color, but the expense is justified by how easy it makes understanding a topic that is unfamiliar to most people. All in all, the book is well worth the price of admission. In a more perfect world, most local libraries would acquire a copy as a great communal resource.

Well done summary, but I question Dr Mercola's carb diet. I am diabetic and control my glucose with very low carb and no drugs. To gain electrons I use a grounding sheet on the bed. The thyroid's key as is iodine. Without sufficient iodine you can't make thyroid hormones. Dr Tennant, Dr David Brownstein and Dr Jorge Flechas understand this. Most MD's have no clue.
